The Town of Gawler is inviting the community to provide feedback on the draft Gawler Town Centre Structure Plan, marking the next phase of consultation for this important strategic project.

Following extensive early engagement in late 2025, Council has prepared a draft Structure Plan that reflects community input, technical investigations and strategic analysis. This next phase of consultation provides an opportunity for residents, business owners and stakeholders to review the draft and help refine the future direction for Gawler’s Town Centre.

The Structure Plan and Development Delivery Framework is a key initiative to guide the growth, development and character of Gawler’s Town Centre over the next 10–20 years.

From 1 to 26 June 2026, the community is encouraged to review the draft and share feedback to ensure the final plan reflects local priorities, values and aspirations.

The draft Structure Plan and Development Delivery Framework identifies opportunities to:

  • Establish a long-term vision for land use, economic activity, public spaces, transport and infrastructure.
  • Create a more attractive, welcoming and vibrant town centre that encourages residents, businesses and visitors to spend time, connect and enjoy the Town Centre.
  • Activate underutilised sites and strengthen connections across the centre.
  • Encourage heritage-sensitive development that respects Gawler’s unique identity.
  • Create conditions that attract investment, enhance commercial activity and support local businesses.
  • Guide infrastructure priorities to meet current and future community needs.
  • Improve walking, cycling, public transport, parking and traffic movement to enhance accessibility.
  • Support increased housing diversity and density within the Town Centre.

Central to this approach is a focus on targeted, priority projects that provide the greatest opportunity for delivery, enabling the Town Centre vision to be implemented in a practical and staged way over time.
