The Town of Gawler is seeking community feedback on the draft Willaston Cemetery Master Plan, a strategic document developed to guide future investment and improvements at Willaston Cemetery over the next 10 years.

Established in 1866, Willaston Cemetery is one of Gawler's most significant community assets. As the final resting place of many of the region's early settlers and generations of local residents, the Cemetery holds considerable historical, cultural and community value. It is also recognised as a State Heritage Area, requiring careful planning to preserve its significance while meeting the needs of current and future visitors.

Working with Phillips Pilkington Architects and in consultation with the Friends of Willaston Cemetery, Council has prepared a draft Master Plan that identifies a range of priority projects and improvements for the site. These include:

  • Improved pedestrian access and pathways
  • New public toilet facilities
  • Additional shelters and visitor amenities
  • Improved parking within and adjoining the Cemetery
  • Landscape and environmental enhancements
  • Other infrastructure improvements to support accessibility and visitor experience

Council is now inviting the community to review the draft Master Plan and provide feedback.
